LENOX SCHOOL COMMITTEE
The School Committee's
primary responsibility is to establish those purposes, programs, and procedures
that will best produce the educational achievement needed by our students. The Committee is charged with accomplishing
this while also being responsible for wise management of resources available
to the school system.
Purpose: The Committee is responsible for
the development of policy as guides for administrative action and for employing
a Superintendent who will implement its policies; The Committee is responsible for adoption of
a budget that will enable the school system to carry out the Committee’s
policies; The Committee is responsible
for establishing educational goals and policies that will guide the Committee
and staff for the administration and continuing improvement of the educational
programs provided by the school district.
Passion: The Committee serves as the elected chief
advocates for the public school students of Lenox, Massachusetts. The Committee promotes critical and creative
thinking, literacy and social responsibility within a school environment that
nurtures personalized education and values integrity and the pursuit of
excellence.
People: The Committee is responsible for providing
adequate and direct means for keeping the local citizenry informed about the progress
and needs of the schools and for keeping itself and the school staff informed
about the needs and wishes of the public.
