MEETING MINUTES

Treasurer’s report was approved.

DISCUSSION

Activity Nights-

-7^th grade activity night was cancelled due to lack of interest

 -8^th grade night out was fun and very successful, but over budget by $64.00. The motion to pay the overage was approved.The PTO was asked to post their appreciation to SN and Blue Q for donating products for the 8^th grade night out.

The question was raised as to why we continue to have grade activity nights if students aren’t so interested in participating. The answer was that we want to offer students a fun way to gather together other than at dances.

Talent Show-

The talent show was great and the turnout was decent. A suggestion was made that if teachers participate in the show next year, the attendance may be higher.

Fundraisers-

Spring Fundraiser: The Harlem Rockets game is scheduled for May 8. FK and RK have donated two rooms and arranged for the donation of two other rooms at the Patriot Suites. Five free tickets will be given the Ks for their generosity and help. We have volunteers to referee and run the clock and we have the police officer.

New PTO Officers-

We need nominees for next year’s officer positions.

INFORMATIONAL UPDATE

MY, JC and SD addressed the PTO on the FY09 proposed operating budget and the gap between how much money the school district needs and what the Selectmen are offering. The official town meeting is scheduled for May 1.

OPEN DISCUSSION

Teachers cannot always make it to the PTO meetings to make requests for funds. There was a brief discussion on possibly changing the bylaws so that it isn’t necessary for teachers to be at the meetings in order to request funds. A decision was made not to change the bylaws.
