DISCUSSION

Middle School Craft Club- EF requested funds for the purchase of tools and materials to support knitting, jewelry making and other related activities.  PTO approved up to $150 for this purpose.

Prevention Needs Assessment Survey- NS volunteered to ask JT to present results of the recent drug/alcohol surveys to the school community this fall.

Forum on Drug/Alcohol Awareness- DD volunteered to help convene a group of middle school and high school parents to gauge the effectiveness of a particular DVD in teaching about drug/alcohol awareness.  The DVD is an educational tool for parents. It will take place after May 1.

Staff Appreciation- Up to $150 was approved to provide refreshments and small plants or flowers in the staff lounge during late May or early June.  A poster summarizing PTO’s accomplishments will be on display.  In addition, PTO approved the purchase of a $50 gift card from the Lenox Chamber of Commerce to be given to AS in appreciation of his service to the talent show and other PTO events.  UD will purchase gift card.

Spring Newsletter- NS will finalize newsletter and email it to KZ by Friday, 4/13.

Student Agenda- KZ presented samples.  PTO approved the purchase of agendas for 7th and 8th grade use next fall.  KZ will try to coordinate with the school purchase of 6th grade agendas to attempt a quantity discount.

Event Nights- The 6th grade chairs are looking to hold their event at Pittsfield Country Club for swimming, volleyball and other outdoor activities.  DD volunteered to facilitate the 7th grade event at Berkshire West in Pittsfield and will try to schedule it for the first Saturday in May.  The 8th grade scavenger hunt and pizza party is scheduled for April 27 at Cranwell Resort, Spa and Golf Club in Lenox.

Talent Show Report- Comments were: good food, good flow.  Fewer students participated this year than last year, possibly because there was less preparation time than last year.  Suggestion was to start preparations in January and create deadlines.  Need to have more monitors in the audience.  LB agreed to provide her “to do” list for easier transitions next year.
