DISCUSSION
Nature’s Classroom
KT will be taking the 6th grade to Nature’s Classroom in Colebrook, CT on April 9th-11th. Cost of the program is $175 per student which includes 2 nights, 3 days, all meals and bus transportation for the approximately 1 ½ hour drive. All 6th grade students signed up except for three. Three students applied for full scholarship. A motion to allocate up to $525 toward scholarships for Nature’s Classroom was approved. The Morris School PTO will be acknowledged for letting us keep the money they previously allocated to us for a 501c application that will now be used for this purpose.
Talent Show
Deadline to sign up is 3/30. RS reported that mostly 7th graders are signed up; only one 8th grader and very few 6th graders have signed up so far. It was agreed to open up the event to individual teacher acts since there now seems to be enough time with less student acts. Current total is 16 acts.
Event Nights
6th grade chairs are considering tubing at Bousquet. Need releases. Need to charge each student a maximum of $5. Other ideas are Berkshire South, sleepover, Skating Factory. VF is considering a bowling night for 7th grade. 8th grade will have a scavenger hunt at Cranwell. Date to be determined.
Possible spring fundraiser
It was agreed that there will be no spring fund raiser this year.
7th grade care packages for soldiers
LS has raised about $500 to use for packages and letters to be sent to soldiers, and to children their age, in various afflicted areas around the world. Packages can also be sent to wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Hospital who have no family. Mrs. M offered the use of her room in the preparation of the packages.
OPEN DISCUSSION
It was agreed to have a discussion at the next meeting about an 8th grade overnight graduation trip.
