FACULTY, STAFF, AND STUDENTS

 

LET’S START COMPOSTING FOR THE GARDEN!  THERE WILL BE A MEMBER OF STUDENT COUNCIL WITH A BUCKET AT LUNCH.  FIND OUT HOW YOU CAN PUT YOUR LEFT OVERS TO USE!

 

BAKE SALEASAP will be having a bake sale on Thursday, March 18th in the front lobby from 2:30 – 3:15! Come buy some goodies and help support ASAP!

 

NEW SAVE T-SHIRTS – have arrived!!!  The message printed in white on black shirts reads – there is no social justice without social action. There are regular and “girl-fit” black shirts available in S,M,L, and XL. The cost is $12 and can be bought from Ms. Sears in Guidance or from any SAVE member.

 

NHS TUTORING – For anyone in grades 6 – 12 is available every Tuesday and Thursday 2:30 – 3:00 p.m. in room 38.  

 

PRE SEASON SPORTS – will begin on Monday, March 15th. Boys and girls’ tennis will meet on Monday, March 15 at 2:30, in the Band Room for a pre season meeting.

 

STUDENT ARTWORK – will be on display at Kimball Farms throughout the month of March! The exhibit is open throughout the week and is free and open to the public.

*** Join in celebrating the work of middle school art students and high school photography students at the reception on March 25, from 3:00 – 4:30 !  If you are interested in seeing the exhibit flyer, you may find it listed on our web page under Student Activities.

***Additionally, there is a new exhibit of eighth grade prints on display at the Lenox Post Office.

 

TALENT SHOW - The Talent Show sponsored by the Class of 2010, will be on Friday, March 26th. Everyone in the building is welcome to participate. Due to the large number of participants last year, we will have to limit the number of acts. Please sign up with Mrs. Holt or Mr. Sanders by Friday, March 12th.

 

SNACK BAR WILL BE OPEN EVERY TUESDAY, THURSDAY AND FRIDAYS FROM 2:30 – 3:00 PM

 

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

ATTENTION ALL SOPHOMORES – There will be a short sophomore class meeting on Tuesday, March 16 in the theater. The meeting will begin after attendance at 7:45. All A period teachers with sophomores should accompany their students to the theater at that time.

 

COLLEGE NIGHT – Parents and students are invited to attend MEFA’s free comprehensive presentation on College Admissions. The seminar will be hosted by LMMHS on Tuesday, March 23 at 7:00 PM. An experienced MEFA representative will discuss the College Admissions process. The seminar will cover important topics like high school curriculum and testing, offer concrete strategies for the college search and application process, and provide an overview of financial aid essentials. Families will receive a seminar booklet which serves as a year-round resource. Time is allowed for questions and answers.

 

DETENTIONS – HS detentions have been moved to room 37.

 

GOING PLACES:  Our next Going Places activity will be Tuesday, March 16 from 2:30 – 4:30. We will be travelling to Mrs. Middleton’s house to watch maple syrup being made! Please be sure to inform Mrs. Grimes if you will be joining us. Make sure to wear appropriate outdoor footwear – we will be outside in the snow and or mud!

 

JUNIORS ONLY - DOCTOR FOR A DAY - The Berkshire District Medical Society “High School Doctor for a Day” program is set for Thursday, April 8, 2010 – the program is open to students in their junior year who are interested in the human medical field and have a strong background in the sciences. Selected students will have an opportunity to share the expertise of a physician mentor in the daily practice of medicine. Applications are available in Guidance. Please see Mr. Andersen or Ms. Sears. Deadline March 12, 2010. .

 

JUNIORS - SAT REGISTRATION DEADLINE SET – The regular registration deadline for the May 1 SAT test administration at Pittsfield High School is Wednesday, March 31.  You must register through the collegeboard website directly at www.collegeboard.com.  Contact your guidance counselor if you have questions.

 

SENIORS – Multiple scholarships have arrived.  New*** the Robert C Byrd Honors Scholarship.  The Carolyn T. Sacco Memorial Scholarship Application has arrived for seniors planning a major in business, economics, or insurance. 

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

*              Notice to all students (MS and HS): Cell phone use is not permitted during the school day which means cell phones must be turned off and out of sight.

*              Students are not allowed to use the video component of a video phone in the school building at any time.

*              Headphones are not to be worn during school hours and are to be kept out of sight.

*              Open containers are prohibited in hallways

*              All students are reminded that they should stay off the rock wall in the front of the building and off the lawn above it at all times.

*              Skateboarding is not allowed on school property at any time.  Skateboards must be enclosed in a case for transportation on the bus.

*              Throwing of snowballs is not allowed on school grounds at any time for any reason.

*           Students are not allowed in the Faculty/Staff Dining Room at any time for any reason. This includes before, during and after school. The soda machine is off limits!

*              For High School Students: Book bags are to be kept out of the hallways at all times. Please keep your book bags and other belongings in your classroom or locker. During lunch, bags should be left at your seat before you get your meal.

*              Do not bring valuables to school – do not place them in your locker. If you must bring valuables or money to school, be sure to check them in with the Main Office.

*              DETENTIONS – Middle School Detentions will be held Monday – Thursday from 2:30 – 3:00 p.m. in the SSC Room with Mrs. Schultz.

High School Detentions will be held Monday – Thursday from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. in room 37 with Mrs. Steuerwald. 

Directed Study will be held on Fridays from 12:30 – 4:30 in the SAC Room, (Mrs. Grimes’ Room) which is next to the SSC room, with Mrs. Steuerwald.

* Going Places meets every first Tuesday of the month at 2:30 p.m. in room 17.

* Middle School Student Council meets the first Wednesday of every month at 2:30 in

   Room 5.

* Mock Trial meets every Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. in room 39.

* Model UN meets every Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in room 35.

* National Honor Society meets every Wednesday at 7:20 a.m. in the theater.

* Quiz Team meets Wednesdays at 2:30 in the Library and Fridays at 6:30 a.m. in room 36.

* SAVE meets on Tuesdays at 11:15 in the Theater Lobby.
