Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy is a school based service offered to help students develop
skills in fine motor, visual motor, and sensory processing areas. The goal of
services is to improve skill level in order that the student can fully access
his/her grade level curriculum. Children are seen for direct service either
in the classroom or therapy room. Children participate in a variety of fine
and gross motor activities to achieve their goals. In addition, consultation
services with classroom teachers and other school staff are offered to develop
and implement classroom accommodations and strategies to help individual students
function more successfully in the classroom and school environment.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy services are provided to those children who have difficulty
with their gross motor skills. Gross motor skills are things like running, jumping,
hopping, skipping, throwing and catching. Services are provided in a variety
of settings including the classroom, PT room, on the playground, and during
gym class. Physical therapy services consist of exercises, games and activities
designed to target the development of specific skills.
