It is with great honor that we invite you to the 10th annual
UNA-USA Model United Nations (UNA-USA MUN) Conference, sponsored by
the United Nations Association of the United States of America’s
Global Classrooms® program on May 14-16, 2009.
Last year’s conference boasted attendance by delegates from over a
dozen states and 17 countries, including Brazil,
Sweden, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.
The conference will have over 2,300 students and 18 committees,
covering diverse and pressing international issues such as separatist
state movements, the economic effects of HIV/AIDS, micro-loans, biofuels, and the situation in Myanmar.
Replacing our traditional General Assembly Regional committees,
delegates will have the opportunity to participate in the United
Nations Climate Change Conference committees, which will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark in December 2009.
In addition, during this 10th anniversary of UNA-USA MUN, we have
dedicated a committee to looking back at the global situation ten
years ago, with Historical Security Council: Kosovo (1999).
This three-day conference will be held at United Nations
Headquarters and the Grand Hyatt Hotel in mid-town Manhattan, and will feature both
Opening and Closing Ceremonies in the General Assembly Hall, as well
as committee sessions held in the meeting rooms of UN Headquarters.
The UNA-USA MUN conference will provide an authentic simulation of
the United Nations in a highly professional setting and the chance
for delegates to debate with thousands of students from across the
country and around the globe.
United Nations
